Hi, my name is Catherine Brown and I used to work and go to school in Shettleston.
I joined the history group in October 2005 at Eastbank looking back at the area
and how the changes have been made over the years.
I have met a nice group of people and have had fun doing the
history project.
Our time in the history class has been very enlightening especially
when we found a few of us when we were younger a lot of us have stayed in the
same street even in the same building. It has been amazing to find out how we
have been working on the project of Shettleston and to find bit by bit about
how we stayed so close.
Alex, and Liz’s auntie Cathie stayed in Carntyne Road. My
mum was friendly with Liz’aunt Cathie for years and Liz remembers me as a child.
Across the road Liz Parker stayed with her husband and children
who I know very well and we are still friends to this day - not bad eh?
My mother and Cathie used to go to Saltcoats on holiday, pictures
I’ve found are dated 1949 and we are working on our project now in 2006
While I was working in Shettleston in McCluskies hairdressers
{Henrys} I did my training there working with Irene and Sandra about 1967 and
would love to know if anyone remembers the shop and the girls who worked there.
The customers were lovely and some were characters real down to earth people
